The 39th Edition of this annual competition is open to amateur, professional and youth photographers and for a fee of $15, you can enter up to 20 images in 7 different categories. You are looking for photos of wildlife, of course, but also backyard habitats, plants, landscapes, people and nature. The category winners will each receive $1,000 and two grand prize winners (an amateur and a professional) are per $5,000 awarded. The 2009 deadline is July 20.

The great outdoors of PDN and national geographic

Both professionals and amateurs, this competition has a variety of categories: insects and gardens, outdoor sports and activities, beaches, underwater, Islands, parks & safaris, animals, plants and scenes of the natural world. Enter the cost (per photo or photo essay consisting of up to 6 pictures) is $35 for professionals and $12 for amateurs. Trips for 2 Spain and Germany include prices and the award-winning photographs will be issued at the Castle Wolfstein Freyung (Bavaria) and several bedruckt-and offline publications.
